This is a new chapter for Plumley Pecans starting in 2025 but this is where the legacy all started. With a cane pole and a bucket, Louis Plumley began a career of harvesting pecans during the difficult times of the depression era in the 1930's. After a time of service during World War II, he married Mildred Riggs, who also grew to love the pecan business. Sammy and wife, Gwen Plumley along with his parents began a pecan management and harvesting business in and around the Kimble County, Texas area in 1976. In 1986 we purchased a lot in Junction to expand our harvesting operation into a pecan buying station and retail shop.

 

As our customer base grew by offering good quality products such as fancy pecans in-shell and shelled, pralines, pecan pies, flavored pecans and many other items, we decided to began a mail order business. Sammy and Gwen have two sons and two daughter-in-laws (Cody, Carter, Kristi and Melody). Cody now takes the lead role in the day to day business of running our pecan shop and custom shelling operation. Gwen started making her famous pecan pralines in 1990 and she loves to keep them in stock for the customers. The smell of the shop on the days she cooks them is something people come in by the groves to smell the mouthing watering scent. Kristi has stepped into the role of managing the website, marketing and cooking the flavored pecans.

Cody followed in his father's steps in real estate starting in 1999. This is his passion. He is currently the owner and Broker of Plumley Realty and has 2 additional agents in his office. Cody and his wife, Kristi, work side by side in all aspects of the real estate business serving commercial, ranch and residential clients.

 

Their team effort keeps the wheels going smoothly and keeps Cody in line. Their clients become family to them with lasting friendships. It also is a labor of love like the pecan business. “Our goal, in pecans and real estate, is to offer to our valued customers, old and new, the finest quality in all our products and services.
